If you’re in need of a gift idea for the dog lover in your life, you wouldn’t go wrong with this book. Even if they’ve read it, the very considerate thought would be much appreciated.

Decoding Your Dog is authored by several leading veterinary behaviorists – vets with extensive further education and training. Chapters range from choosing your new best friend, to house training and common problematic doggie behaviors through to cognitive decline in seniors. There’s something for everyone in here – from the first time new puppy parent, to the multiple failed fosterer. If you’ve ever wanted to know a little bit more about the “why” behind our canine companion’s behavior, then this book is for you.

Not all books on dogs are created equally and this one surpasses many by the breadth of the wisdom contained over some 300 pages. Get it, read it, love it.

Spoiler aler, if you’ve been clinging on to the myth that you have to “show your dog who’s boss”, you’re going to find it difficult to ignore what the ultimate experts in animal behavior have to say.
